Board a ferry for the island of Yaskushima, where moss covers every surface and trees grow for thousands of years. Your hiking guide will take you into the Shiratani Unsui Valley, famed as the visual inspiration for the beloved animated film, ‘Princess Mononoke’.

Rejoin your guide for a full day of touring the island, from twisting forest roads to towering waterfalls. The day’s main attraction, however, is an off-trail hike deep into the heart of the forest where animals roam and other secrets lay hidden under the dense canopy above.
